Annual report eng.2019

N otes To The Consolidated Financial Statements AL MAZAYA HOLDING K.S.C.P. AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES As At 31 December 2019 (All amounts are in Kuwaiti Dinars) OF ACHIEVEMENTS Land is not depreciated. Depreciation is computed on a straight-line basis over the estimated useful lives of other Property, Plant and equipment as follows: Years Computer equipment 3 Furniture and fixtures 5 Vehicles 5 The useful life and depreciation method are reviewed periodically to ensure that the method and period of deprecation are consistent with the expected pattern of economic benefits from items of Property, Plant and equipment. An item of Property, Plant and equipment is derecognized upon disposal or when no future economic benefits are expected to arise from the continued use of the asset. Impairment of assets: At the end of each reporting period, the Group reviews the carrying amounts of its assets to determine whether there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss (if any). Where it is not possible to estimate the recoverable amount of an individual asset, the Group estimates the recoverable amount of the cash-generating unit to which the asset belongs. Recoverable amount is the higher of the fair value less costs to sell and value in use. In assessing value in use, the estimated future cash flows are discounted to their present value using a discount rate that reflects current market assessments of the time value of money and the risks specific to the asset. If the recoverable amount of an asset (or cash-generating unit) is estimated to be less than its carrying amount, the carrying amount of the asset (cash-generating unit) is reduced to its recoverable amount. An impairment loss is rec- ognized immediately in the consolidated statement of profit or loss, unless the relevant asset is carried at a revalued amount, in which case the impairment loss is treated as a revaluation decrease. Where an impairment loss subsequently reverses, the carrying amount of the asset (cash-generating unit) is increased to the revised estimate of its recoverable amount, but so that the increased carrying amount does not exceed the carrying amount that would have been determined had no impairment loss been recognized for the asset (cash-generating unit) in prior years. A reversal of an impairment loss is recognized immediately in the consolidated statement of profit or loss, unless the relevant asset is carried at a revalued amount, in which case the reversal of the impairment loss is treated as a revaluation increase. End of service indemnity: Provision is made for amounts payable to employees under the Kuwaiti Labor Law in the private sector, employees' contracts and the applicable labor laws in the countries where the subsidiaries operate. This liability, which is unfund- ed, represents the amount payable to each employee as a result of involuntary termination at the end of the reporting period, and approximates the present value of the final obligation. Share capital: Ordinary shares are classified as equity. Incremental costs directly attributable to the issue of new shares are shown in equity as a deduction from the proceeds. Share premium: This represents cash received in excess of the par value of the shares issued. The share premium is not available for distribution except in cases stipulated by law. k) I) m) n)
