STANDARD PROCEDURES
Construction Health and Safety Management (HSM) Program
As a Rule subject to no Exception: No One is Authorized to Enter any of Mazaya Construction Sites without Safety Boots and
Hard Hat. In addition, No Work shall be commenced on Site before the Contractor officially submits both; All Risks and Labor
Compensation Insurance Policies.
Introduction
The following sections provide general guidelines and procedures for construction safety, which cover the following topics:
• General Construction Safety Guidelines
• Barriers and Guards
• Heavy Equipment Safety
• Hoists
• Scaffolding
General Construction Safety Guidelines
Construction work can be particularly hazardous. Personal protective equipment, fire safety, electrical safety, and other
precautious are essential for safe construction work. Please follow these guidelines when working or visiting the construction
sites:
• Do not walk, stand, or work under suspended loads. If you raise a load, be sure to crib, block, or otherwise secure the
load as soon as possible.
• Avoid placing unusual strain on equipment or materials.
• Be prepared for unexpected hazards. BE ALERT!
• On regular basis, the Construction site must be cleared from all rubbish, debris, and waste materials. Adequate number of
Dumpsters must be provided, appropriately located, and maintained for this purpose – The site must be kept tidy.
• Adequate number of Fire Extinguishers must be always available and accessible on different locations on site.
• Adequate Number of First Aid Kits must be always available and accessible on different locations on site.
• Additional Hard Hats and Safety Boots should be always available for Visitors’ use on site.
• Smoking, whenever possible, should be banned on site, especially when labors are working with and/or handling
flammable materials. If enforced, designated smoking areas should be allocated and conveniently located to minimize
trips and walking time.
• Safety Goggles (Eyes Protection) should always be worn by welding labors and/or whenever such a necessity arises.
• The Engineer shall fill out a Safety Violation Report – sample shown in Appendix 16 – whenever any Contractor or site
personnel violate the adopted safety rules and regulations on site.
Barriers and Guards
Barriers, guards, and warning signs are required to ensure safety against existing hazards. Site Management & Supervisors
must use barriers and guards as necessary to protect visitors from physical hazards. If you suspect a hazard is not sufficiently
protected, notify the attending the Site Management immediately.
